Michael Anthony Alewine, age 61, passed away March 7, 2019 at his home in Houston, Texas. He was born April 29, 1957 in Fairfield, Texas to Martin James Alewine and Patricia Phelps. Michael was raised in Buffalo as a child and attended First Baptist Church in Buffalo. His family later moved to the Houston area where Michael graduated from Jersey Village High School. He received an Associate Degree in Science from Henderson County Junior College and worked as an electrician in Houston until his health began to fail.
Michael loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and swimming. He was also an avid reader and had recently acquired an interest in history books and various television shows. He especially loved music and always had something playing on the radio. Michael was currently residing in Houston to be near his family, having come from Onalaska.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Martin James Alewine; brothers, Mason Gibson and Mitchell Alewine; granddaughter, Amani McDade; and ex-wife, Marielena Lentz.
Surviving family members include mother, Patricia Taylor of Houston; spouse, Gale Barnes of Onalaska; daughters, Morgan Alewine of Katy, Mykayla Alewine of Hockley and Corteney Alewine of Magnolia; sister, Vicki McKinney of Houston and grandchildren, Jordan, Jasper, Jaziah, Aniah, Makennah, Kestan, Mykinzie, Baleigh and Kolby. Michael is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Michael will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Ray Grissett will officiate the service, and interment will follow in Parker Cemetery in the Flo Community of Leon County. A brief visitation will take place at the church before the service from 10 A.M. to service time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas.
