Annie Kathryn Stevens

August 15, 1928 — June 30, 2024

Buffalo

Annie Kathryn Bell Stevens went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 30, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born in Buffalo, Texas on August 15, 1928. She and her husband, Johnie, had been residents of the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Palestine for the last 2-1/2 years.

Kathryn, as she was known to most people, grew up in Buffalo and except for brief times attending business school in Tyler and working and living in Dallas and Wichita Falls, spent her whole life in Buffalo. She was very active in the First Baptist Church, the Eastern Star and the Lord’s Pantry. She was the business manager at Buffalo ISD for over 30 years and also served as an election judge for several years.

She loved her family and enjoyed the grandchildren and great-grandchildren coming to her house to swim. Meemaw, as she was known to them, would always have popsicles or ice cream sandwiches for them after a cool swim in the summer. She was an excellent cook, made the best cakes and pies, and would often take meals to families that were ill. She loved to sew for her family, quilt, play the piano and put jigsaw puzzles together. One of her favorite things to do was just to sit on the front porch with Johnie and enjoy God’s creation. She also loved her Sunday School class and loved playing dominoes with her friends at the Methodist church.

Annie Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Maud Bell; son, John Randall (Randy) Stevens; and 3 brothers and their wives, Robert Bell (wife Hazel), Homer Bell (wife Nettie) and Taylor Bell (wife Bernice).

Kathryn is survived by her husband of 77 years, Johnie Stevens; her two sons, Thomas Gene (wife Doris) of Buffalo and Kenneth Wayne (wife Barbara) of Boerne; 7 grandchildren, Andy Stevens (Ashley), Mike Fox (Amanda), Jason Stevens (Shelley), Steven Fox (Jill), Jeremy Stevens (Deana), Thomas Stevens (Leslie) and Gina Stevens (Russell); 22 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. The grandboys will serve as pallbearers.

Meemaw was the heart of her family and will be greatly missed.
