Billie Ray "Bill" Whitehorn

Billie Ray "Bill" Whitehorn, 89, of Buffalo, Texas passed away on May 24, 2023 in Buffalo, Texas. He was born on June 16, 1933 to Elmer Lee Whitehorn and Ruby Margaret (Hannigan) Whitehorn at their home in Coble Switch, Texas.

Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents and oldest sister, Bessy Williams. He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Rosa Lee (Layton) Whitehorn of Buffalo, Texas; sons, Billy Eugene Whitehorn of Buffalo, Texas and Isaac Andrews Whitehorn (Dottie) of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Rosa Ann Smith (Gary) of Buffalo, Texas; grandchildren, Gary Z. Smith, LeElla Whitehorn, Rebekah Cardenas, Isaac Whitehorn, Shawn Whitehorn, Jonathen Whitehorn and Joseph Whitehorn; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Ed Whitehorn of Texarkana, Texas and Joseph Whitehorn (Linda) of Anson, Texas; sisters, Sue Hyer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ruby Coon of Lubbock, Texas, Shirley Layton (Eugene) of Show Low, Arizona and Betty Gerral of Show Low, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and extended family that referred to him as "Uncle Bo."

Bill owned a truck driving company and drove for many years. He enjoyed talking, talking some more, and then talking some more. He never met a stranger. Bill loved sharing his knowledge, especially with his grandsons, and being extra sweet to his granddaughters. He was very family-oriented, supportive and a great father to his children. Bill and Rosa Lee had a wonderful marriage. He did everything possible to keep her happy.

A funeral service for Bill will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church, Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Ray Grissett will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, Texas. A time of visitation will take place Monday, May 29, 2023 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
