David Arnold Copeland, of Marquez and formerly of Buffalo, passed away on September 24, 2017 in Groesbeck, Texas at the age of fifty-eight. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M., Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Tuesday, September 25th at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo.
David Arnold Copeland was born on July 2, 1959 in Teague, Texas. His parents were Charles & Emma (Dawson) Copeland. David was raised in Teague and was a 1977 graduate of Teague High School. While in high school, David was a team member of the football team that won the State Championship. David worked as a truck driver and owned a restaurant in Jewett, Texas. He had also spent time working on tugboats.
In his free time, David enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, reading and dancing. Most of all, David loved spending time with all of his grandchildren. He enjoyed making people laugh and would have given the shirt off of his back to help someone in need. David was a member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo and a member of the Jewett Masonic Lodge #427. He had lived in Marquez for the past five years, coming from Buffalo.
David was preceded in death by his father, Charles Copeland. Surviving family members are mother, Emma Copeland of Buffalo; wife, Gina Copeland of Marquez; son, Jake Snow of Marquez; daughters, Kristen Padgett & husband, Jordan, of Buffalo and Morgan Harringer & husband, Joe, of Marquez and sisters, Peggy Hughes & husband, Brian, of Fairfield, Patsy Walker & husband, David, of Fairfield and Kathy Hull & husband, Mark, of Teague. David is also survived by grandchildren, Lillie Padgett and Clay & Paxton Harringer.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Hughes, James Compton, Brad Walker, Steven Hull, Charlie Hull and Ronnie Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Ellis, Jake Snow, Gary Reed, Daryl Cook and Joe Harringer.
Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
