David Lee Johnston

Memorial services for David Johnston, age 71, of Buffalo, will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Miracle Christian Center in Buffalo. Pastor of the church, Lloyd Lane, will officiate the service.

David Lee Johnston was born February 12, 1947 in Ridge, Texas. His parents were Henry Elgin and Minnie (Currie) Johnston. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and had retired as a corrections officer after over twenty-one years at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. David held a special place in his heart for animals, especially his cats. He also enjoyed feeding the many hummingbirds and cardinals that would frequent the bird feeders placed around his house. David had a knack for fixing things and enjoyed tinkering with just about anything he could get his hands on. He and his son had recently completed building a shed. David had made sure to take frequent breaks during the building process so that they cold both enjoy a cold Dr. Pepper or Big Red, which were two of his favorites. David was a member of the local V.F.W. and a thirty-plus member of the Miracle Christian Center. He had lived in Buffalo for the past thirty-eight years, coming from California.

David passed away August 9, 2018 at his home in Buffalo. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; brother, Daniel Johnston and four sisters including, Allie Johnston & Myrtle Wade. Surviving family members are wife, Cheryl Johnston of Buffalo; son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Anna Johnston of Buffalo; daughters, Katherine Watts (Amber) of Buffalo & Jennifer Weir Villalobos of California; sisters, Rosie Jean Templeton of Abilene & Dorothy Crider of Pearland; sister-in-law, Rhonda House (Ray) and brother-in-law, Robert Phillips (Crystal). David is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored, Gabriel & Hayli Johnston and Rhiannan & Ravyn Kocher, as well as, numerous nieces & nephews.

Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is entrusted with final arrangements.
