Emma Ruth Copeland, 82, of Buffalo, Texas passed away on January 8, 2025, in Fairfield, Texas. She was born to Omer and Pearl (Foster) Dawson on April 17, 1942, in Teague, Texas.
Emma married her childhood sweetheart, Charles, at the age of fifteen, embarking on a beautiful journey that would last for fifty-two years. Together, they created a loving home filled with joy, laughter, and countless memories. Emma's true passion was working with children, a calling she fulfilled as a teacher's aide and bus driver for Dew Independent School District. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the classroom, as she frequently opened her home and table to all, showering her loved ones with delicious baked goods and a welcoming smile. Emma was a member of Langley Methodist Church for sixty years, and had played the piano at church ever since becoming a member. She took tremendous joy in raising her four children in a nurturing Christian home. Her deep faith was a guiding force in her life, and she was often sought out for her wise counsel and Godly advice. Emma's commitment to her church and her family was unwavering, and it brought her immense joy to see generations of her family involved in their faith.
An avid gardener, Emma found solace and joy in her flowerbeds, cultivating beauty with her hands while sharing her vibrant blooms with friends and family. However, her greatest joy in life came from her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. The love she poured into babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immeasurable, as she cherished every moment spent nurturing their growth and happiness.
Emma was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Charles Copeland; son, David Copeland; brother, Earnest Dawson; nephew, Butch Dawson; and beloved dog, Dexter. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Hughes (Brian) of Fairfield, Texas, Patsy Walker (David) of Fairfield, Texas, and Kathy Hull (Mark) of Teague, Texas; grandchildren, Kristen Padgett (Jordan), Jeff Hughes (Misty), Shelley Baxter (Andrew), James Compton (Kimberly), Bradly Walker (Kendall), Erin Harris (Kurt), Steven Hull (Beth), and Charlie Hull (Resa); and twenty great-grandchildren.
In this time of sorrow, let us remember Emma Ruth Copeland not only for her passing but for the profound impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will forever bloom in the hearts of her family and friends, a lasting testament to her love and generosity.
