Hazel Juanita West was born January 27, 1933 in Buffalo, Texas. Her parents were William A. “Pat” and Mattie (Keils) Lalley. She and her husband began their family at an early age and was a devoted wife and mother. Nita, as she was fondly known by most, worked for over thirty years at the Auction Sale Café where she was famous for her cooking. She loved working at the café and also enjoyed cooking for her family when at home. In her younger years, Nita liked to deer hunt. She was an entertainer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to spoil them any way she could. Nita and her husband of over sixty-years, Sonny, greatly enjoyed their yearly trips to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. When she became a resident of Centerville Healthcare, Nita wholeheartedly embraced her new life making many friends and coming up with nicknames for many of the residents and employees. The residents at Centerville Healthcare became her second family, especially during COVID times when family was unable to visit as frequently. Nita was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Buffalo and had been a lifelong resident of Buffalo.

Nita was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Sonny West and siblings, Lester, Alvin Nolan, Artie Mae, Hattie Ruth and Louise. She is survived by sons, William E. West & wife, Rachel of Fairfield and Jerry D. West & wife, Janice of Normangee; sisters, Billie Withrow and Jackie Perkins; grandchildren, Jeremy West, Brandon West, Jason West, Donavan West and Dusty West and great-grandchildren, Austin West, Shelby West, Peyton West, Anna West and Porter West.
