Jacquelyn Hope Dettmer was born December 22, 1938 in Altus, Oklahoma. She was one of three children born to Luther Charles & Clarice B. (Armstrong) Stricklen. More commonly known as “Jackie,” she received her associate’s degree as an LVN and worked most of her life in the healthcare industry. Jackie loved her job because she enjoyed taking care of others. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Jackie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had lived in Buffalo for the past thirty-three years. Jackie’s family all described her as “a very special lady” who will be greatly missed.
Jackie passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at her home in Buffalo. She was seventy-nine years old. Jackie was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Marvin Dettmer; brothers, Jay & Charles Stricklen; daughters, Sharon Dettmer, Karen Jarrell & Marilyn Young and granddaughter, Shalon Tucker.
Surviving family members include son, Alan Dettmer (Deborah) of League City and daughters, Melinda Scott of Houston and Stephanie Dettmer of Buffalo. Jackie is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
