James D. "J.D." Boyd

Funeral services for J.D. Boyd, age 84, will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Ray Grissett, of Bethel Baptist Church, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Dew Cemetery, Dew, Texas. A brief visitation will take place at the funeral home Sunday from 1 P.M. to service time.

James D. “J.D.” Boyd was born May 25, 1936 in Flo, Texas to Austin & Lois (Goad) Boyd. He grew up in Flo and attended the Flo School. He was once married to Mary Sue Chatham for eighteen years and had two wonderful daughters, Cindy and Sherry. J.D. was employed as a foreman at Champion Homes in Buffalo and had worked in the oilfield, but he most loved being a rancher. He had lived his entire life in both Leon and Freestone counties.

J.D. passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 doing what he loved doing most, working on his ranch. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; sister, Gladys Sales and brothers, William David, Elmer Lee and Bengie Boyd.

Surviving family members include, daughters, Cindy (Dee) Halderman of Shiner and Sherry Lacina of Victoria; grandchildren, Jody Hagar, Casey Ward and Clint Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Mycah Hager and Cooper Nicholas; brother, Gary (Rebecca) Boyd of Palestine; step-daughter, Autumn Spears of Houston; partner; Bobbie Ivy and grandchildren, Michael (Kelley) Ivy, Billy (Misti) Ivy, Makenzey, Kennedy, Tristan, Braylon, Bryson and great-grandchild, Weston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
