Jodie Lee Ivey, seventy-two years of age, winged his way to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, September 8, 2023.


Jodie was born in Harlingen, Cameron County, Texas on May 3, 1951. His mother and father were Ella B. (Peterson) Ivey and Ernest Earl Ivey.


He attended public schools in Cameron County and Buffalo, Texas and graduated high school in Vista, California where he proudly served as Vista High School Drum Major.


He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era on the USS Manatee and was discharged under honorable conditions.


Jodie's profession was a cook at many well known establishments in Leon County, Texas. After many years of employment in food service, Jodie retired from the food service department at Nucor Steel. Jodie enjoyed his country living as well as gardening, sky diving, entertaining family and friends and a day by the water.


Jodie was a good son, brother, and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and oh so many relatives and friends. Jodie was affectionately known as the fun uncle, a.k.a "Funcle Jodie."


Jodie was preceded in death by his mother, Ella B. (Peterson) Ivey; his father, Ernest Earl Ivey; and brothers, Harold J. Ivey, John E. Ivey and Robert F. Ivey, as well as half brothers, David Ivey and Freddie Ivey; half sister, Brenda Paul and step sisters, Margarita "Maggie" Espinoza and Lillie Leal.


Survivors include brothers, Jesse E. Ivey and wife, Ann of Dayton, Texas and George A. Ivey and wife, Gloria of Montgomery, Texas; sisters, Brenda L. Ivey of Leander, Texas and Sylvia B. (Ivey) Lecuyer and husband, Larry of Granbury, Texas; half brothers, Ernest Ivey Jr., Lee Roy Ivey and wife, Becky of Houston, Texas, and Freddie Ivey of Santa Fe, Texas; half sister, Jenny Alanis; step brother, Raymond Rivera of Colorado, as well as a host of extended family and friends.


Jodie's beloved pets, Jack and Dottie, were adopted by his nephews.


A funeral service to honor Jodie's life will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. Prior to the service a brief visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10 A.M. to service time. Jodie will be laid to rest in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
