A funeral service for Matilde Esquivel, age 67, of Buffalo, Texas will be held 10 A.M., Monday, April 29, 2024 at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. Fr. Morgan White, of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, will officiate the service. Matilde will be laid to rest in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, Texas following the service. A visitation and rosary will take place from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
Jose Matilde Esquivel was born April 14, 1957 in San Juan de Guadalupe, Durango, Mexico to Cenon Esquivel de la Cruz and Juana de la Cruz Lopez. He was raised in Mexico and had lived in Texas for the past thirty-four years. Matilde was employed by the local mine as an operator. Even when Matilde became ill, he remained active in both his career and on his farm. He enjoyed working at his home taking care of his cows, chickens and goats, as well as keeping his property secure by checking the fences on a regular basis. Matilde was considered the life of the party and enjoyed when his family and friends were together. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Matilde passed away April 25, 2024 at his home following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother, Jacinto Esquivel.
Surviving family members include wife, Maria Esquivel of Buffalo; daughter and son-in-law, Mariade Jesus and Juan Antonio Montez of Buffalo; son and daughter-in-law, Malalel Esquivel and Bricelda Montanez of Buffalo; grandchildren, Alyssa Esquivel, Natalia Iveth Esquivel, Sabastian Esquivel, Tadeo Yahir Montez and Victoria Montez; siblings, Aurelio Esquivel, Jose Angel Esquivel, Wenselado Esquivel, Eustacio Esquivel and Maria de la Pas Castaneda; and special niece and nephew, Anet Irais Favela and Emanuel Esquivel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
