Norene Barnett

Graveside services for Norene Barnett, 96, of Weatherford, Texas, will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Parker Cemetery near the Flo Community of Leon County, Texas. Jackson Colwell will officiate the service.

Norene Barnett was born on February 13th, 1924, in Centerville, Texas to Alva and Martha Hoyt. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell until she began raising a family after marrying J.V. Barnett on July 16th, a marriage of over 60 years. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, and gardening. Mrs. Barnett was a member of the Bethesda Methodist Church in Weatherford and had lived in Weatherford since 1969. She passed away on May 2nd 2020, following a lengthy illness. Norene was known as a loyal and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her husband, J.V. Barnett and both of her parents, Alva and Martha Hoyt; sister, Irene Barnett and brother, A.C. Hoyt.

Survivors include son, Ricky Barnett of Weatherford; daughters, Linda Bower and Karen Carlton, both of Weatherford; grandchildren, Shawn Smelser, Mandy (Lawrence) Oliver and Kallie (Layne) Boxell and great-grandchildren, Nelson Oliver, Devin Smelser, Addy and Kinley Boxell.
