Stanley Robinson, age 83, of Lake Limestone, and formerly of Buffalo, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his home in Lake Limestone. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 P.M., Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Rev. Robert McDougal, pastor of First Baptist Church in Donie, will officiate the service, assisted by Rev. Johnny Veretto. Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery south of Centerville in rural Leon County, Texas. The family will receive friends Friday, October 5th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Robert “Stanley” Robinson was born May 25, 1935 in Centerville, Texas to William Bryan & Ouida (Ward) Robinson. He was raised in Centerville and graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree. In his early years, Stanley worked for NASA as an engineer during the Apollo Space Program. He had the opportunity to be on the USS Ticonderoga during the recovery of a space capsule with the U.S. Astronauts on board after it had reentered the earth’s atmosphere and landed in the ocean. Stanley owned the local Western Auto in Buffalo and later turned it into Ace Hardware. He had lived in Buffalo for the thirty-four years and in Lake Limestone for ten years and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Donie.
Stanley enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, hunting and fishing. His favorite food was ice cream. He didn’t have a favorite brand. Any ice cream would suit him. Most of all, Stanley enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Stanley was preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers, Jack W. Robinson, Elton E. Robinson, Eresell P. Robinson, Marshall Neal “Cotton” Robinson, Leonard Lindberg Robinson and sister, Ruth Maithe Pierce.
Surviving family members include wife, Rosie Lee Robinson of Lake Limestone; sons, Bryan Robinson (Judy) of Buffalo & Glenn Robinson (Jill) of Lake Limestone; daughters, Sharon Hammond (Kevin) of Jewett & Christie Rayborn (Alan) of Buffalo; sisters, Lyndall Hale of Bryan & Lillian Pierce of Centerville; nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren with one more due in February who will be named after his great grandfather, Stanley Colt Cunningham.
Pallbearers: Marshall Robinson, James Hammond, Jacob Cunningham, Justin Hammond, Travis Cunningham, Matt Rigby, Kris Kram, Michael Fulmer, Kendall Sheffield
Arrangements are entrusted to Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas.
