Shirley Ann Carmichael, age 85, passed away September 20, 2020 in Fairfield, Texas. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 P.M., Sunday, September 27, 2020 at First Baptist Church, Buffalo, Texas. Rev. Alan Grisham, pastor of the church, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Buffalo Cemetery. A brief visitation will take place before the service from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the church.

Shirley Ann (Willis) Carmichael was born September 5, 1935 in Smithville, Texas. Her parents were W.N., Sr. & Maude (Dunlap) Willis. Shirley grew up with seven siblings and lived the majority of her life in Leon County, Texas. When her children were school-aged, she began working at Citizens State Bank for a time; then attended nursing school where she became an LVN. Shirley always made sure she was involved in whatever activity or organization where her children were participants. She was also a dedicated and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Buffalo, teaching Sunday school and Girls in Action (G.A.’s), participating in WMU, singing in the choir, served as church secretary and choir director. Shirley held a love for stray animals and enjoyed taking care of her yard and plants. She also had a special talent for writing and poetry.
Shirley was preceded in death by both of her parents; husbands, Ralph Louis Webb and Billy Gene Carmichael; siblings, Susie Mae Huebel, Minnie Lee Willis, Clarice Huhn, Evelyn George, W.N. Willis, Jr., Gordon “G.G.” Willis and Forest Ray Willis; son, Stephen Louis Webb and grandson, Joshua R. Webb.
Surviving family members include daughters, Carol Webb of Buffalo and Sharon Copeland (John) of Buffalo; “Italian daughter,” Sandy Spikes of Buffalo; step-son, Billy Wayne Carmichael of Nashville, TN; step-daughter, Rhonda Carmichael of Temple; daughter-in-law, Sandy Fox Webb of Palestine; grandchildren, Tammy (Jay) Beddingfield, Cindy (Jason) Jones, Kevin (Amy) Burns, Katy (Steve) Brough, Nathaniel Louis Webb and Kash Spikes; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Haley & Trent Martin, Jacie Jones (Paden) Bruton, Liberty & Ethan Brough and Taylor, Avery, Bella, Lizzy & Parker Louis Webb and great, great-grandchildren, Kayden Ray Williams & Collin Jones Bruton. Shirley is also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; special caregivers, Teresa Woodson, Shirley Helm, Jackie Thomas, Sue Chandler, Carmelita Pate, Vanita Walker and special friends, Sue Allen, Melva Waters & Sheila Gaskin for providing all of Mama’s favorite sweets.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
