Tom Hill, Jr..

Tom Hill Jr., age 80, passed from this earth to his Heavenly Home on October 29, 2020. He was born to Tom and Vida Bell Hill on October 9, 1940, in Union County near El Dorado, AR. Tom was the last sibling born after seven sisters…finally a boy!

He graduated from Junction City High School in 1958. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, in 1962. His career was as a Systems Programmer for several oil companies, Grocery Supply and the Houston Police Department where he retired at the age of sixty-one.

He married the love of his life, Marion Ann Hunt, on November 26, 1960. They spent almost 60 years married, raising two sons and enjoying their 7 grandchildren. Tom was a loving, sweet and kind father and grandfather who was very proud of his family. He was active in church his entire life: teaching, playing piano for the choir, serving as an usher and working in evangelism. He loved to work on his ranch, The Hill Ranch in Jewett, TX, talk with his sons about the Bible, watch any Houston team, work Sodoku puzzles and listen to FOX News.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Tom M. Hill and Vida Bell Carelock Hill, sisters Vera Hill Murphy, Cleo Hill Simpson-White, Alverta Hill Hubbard, Hila Hill, Cleta Fay Hill Perdue, Dolly Hill Tittle, and Lorice Hill. Tom is survived by his wife, Marion Ann Hunt Hill; son Tom A. Hill and wife Janell; son Charles Hill and wife Amy; sister Florece Hill White; grandchildren Mike Roe, Jaime Roe, Leighton Hughes, Austin Hughes, Thomas B. Hill, Kayleigh Breanne Hill, Rylie Grace Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom’s Celebration of Life service will be held at the Buffalo Funeral Home (Walters) at 249 Humphreys Street, Buffalo, TX on Saturday November 7, 2020. Visitation will be from 9-10am, service at 10am and graveside immediately following at the Sardis Cemetery on FM 1512 in Jewett, TX.
