Wanda Louise Dodson

Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Louise Dodson, 91, of Fairfield have been set for 2 pm, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo. A brief visitation will be held at the funeral home (from 1 pm until 2 pm) on the day of the service. A private interment will take place at the Dalton Cemetery near Naples, Texas.

Wanda Dodson was the daughter of Walter Lee James and his wife, Levina “Lula” Morrah James and was born November 9, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She passed away on February 24, 2019 in Fairfield, Texas.

Ms. Wanda was a homemaker and sty-at-home mother. After raising her children, she obtained a job with one of the washeterias in Channelview, Texas. She eventually became the manager. When she retired, she was considered of such value that the owners renamed the washeteria in her honor: “Wanda’s Washeteria”.

Ms. Wanda loved flowers and always had plenty in her yard. She also enjoyed having birds in her yard. She encouraged their presence by providing bird feeders. In addition, she had a deep love for her dogs, Jolene,
Buttons and Lady. In later years, she continued to be active and participate in social activities. She especially enjoyed playing Bingo. Her favorite music was country music and she was very fond of Elvis Presley.

Ms. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edward Lee James, Franklin Measley and Jimmy Measley.

Surviving family includes two sons, Michel Dodson of Naples, Texas and Charles “Pete” Dodson of Highlands, Texas; two daughters, Loretta “Jo Baby” Mercer of Highlands, Texas and Carolyn Dobos (Gabriel) of Buffalo, Texas; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and thirteen great, great grandchildren.
