Wenonah "Nonie" (Latham) Ward

July 29, 1953 — August 7, 2024

Buffalo, Texas

Wenonah "Nonie" (Latham) Ward, age 71, was born in Teague, Texas on July 29, 1953, and passed away August 7, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. She lived her adult life in Buffalo, Texas. Nonie was a wife, mother, aunt, mamaw, mawmaw, and sister. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

Nonie loved fishing, gardening, cooking, baking and canning. She enjoyed teaching her friends and family her many talents. She was such a kind, loving soul that never met a stranger. She would give you the shirt off of her back. Nonie loved going on adventures with "The Heifers," and she loved them as much as they loved her, as they were the family that God allowed her to pick.

The only things that we have left are the wonderful memories, the teachings she gave us, and the knowledge of knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. This isn't "goodbye," this is, "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory."

Nonie was preceded in death by both of her parents, William & Nettie Latham; brothers, Billy Jack and Patrick Latham, and many other family members.

Surviving family includes husband, Powell "Butch" Ward; daughter, Mary Kuykendall; granddaughter, Shelby Bell, great-granddaughter, Abigail Bell; brothers, Jimmy, Robert & Joe Latham; sisters, Carolyn Brimhall, Glenda Alford & Brenda Armstrong; special group of "Heifer Friends," LaFonda Shaffer, Onita Williams, Leslie Acker & Lorna Chandler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family, and friends.

A memorial service for Wenonah will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, September 14, 2024, at The WAY, 1109 North Hill St., Buffalo, Texas 75831. Dinner will be served immediately following the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
