Funeral services for William “Billye” Copeland, age 75, of Buffalo, will be held at 1 P.M., Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Cowboy Church of Leon County in Centerville, Texas. Pastor Tuffy Loftin, pastor of the church, and Rev. Josh Gafford will officiate. Interment will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, Texas. A gathering of family and friends will take place Thursday, June 28th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo.

William Edward Copeland was born January 23, 1943 in Buffalo, Texas to Haynie & Agnes Louise (Marsh) Copeland. He valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. William was known as “Billye” by most everyone who knew him, and he was a lifelong resident of the Buffalo and Jewett areas. He had served as J.P. of Precinct 1 in Leon County for two terms and was a lay minister, officiating numerous weddings. Billye enjoyed taking care of his cattle and going to the sale barn. He also enjoyed western movies on television. Billye especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, as each one held a special place in his heart. Billye attended the Cowboy Church of Leon County and the Freestone County Cowboy Church. He passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in a Tyler, Texas hospital.

Billye was preceded in death by both of his parents; grandson, Brayden and great grandson, Coyt. He is survived by son, Darryl Copeland of Fairfield; daughter, Tina Rayborn of Buffalo; brother, Wayne Copeland of Houston; grandchildren, Justin Jones (Tara) of Buffalo, Kaylen Page (Bryan) of Buffalo, Austin Rayborn (Lauren) of Buffalo, Marc Baxter of Buffalo and Shelby Copeland of Fairfield and great grandchildren, Brylenn, Brett, Braxon, Abby, Britton, Hank and Emmy. Billy is also survived by extended family, Johnnie Brunner, Brandon & Amy Brunner, Tara Brunner, Annabelle Green and Easton Hrenkevich.

Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is entrusted with arrangements.
